Congratulations to Janice Hanzel for receiving the 2009 Lucy
Johnson Award from C.L.O.G. at the National CLOG Convention in November. This award
is presented to an outstanding contributor to the clogging community. Kathey Wilson
from Alaska was also a recipient this year. In 2008 Lois Elling (CA) and Anne Mills
(WA and AZ) were presented the award.
Many dancers had a terrific time dancing to a host of classic clogging dances and
celebrating Doug Chin's life at the Chin-Dig
in Belmont on Sept. 12. Doug's family attended, the Barbary Coast Cloggers performed,
and eight cuers kept the dancers moving. It was a fun and bittersweet evening, but
mostly fun. Thanks Doug for your inspiration!
The NCCA STEP DICTIONARY
is now available on CD in pdf format.
Now you can access thousands of clogging steps by name, description,
cross references, and more. This valuable tool is good for dancers, choreographers,
and teachers. The CD includes all the steps in previous editions and updates. Get yours now. Note: NCCA members get a special
discount. Join NCCA to take advantage of this.
SACRAMENTO RIVER CATS Jan Tuller Foundation Day
Groups! Your group can attend the Sacramento River Cats
baseball game against the Portland Beavers on August 23. If you sell 50 or more tickets
for your group, friends, and family, you can perform in the first Annual Jan Tuller
Foundation pre-game clogging party in the Foul Ball Patio! Have a fun day at the
game, meet with fellow cloggers, and support a worthy cause, too. More information
here. (Hey! You Oregon cloggers! How about
a friendly gathering and some rivalry cheering.)
NCCA 2009 CONVENTION A FUN WEEKEND!
Thanks to Kellee, Richard, and the committee for putting on a fun weekend of clogging
workshops, dancing, exhibtions, and more. In keeping with the RECYCLED theme, many
great old clogging dances were taught. These were dances that were popular at one
time (and maybe still are), but many recent dancers never had the chance to learn.
These oldies but goodies were popular at the workshop. Along with the oldies, many
new dances were taught as well. You can check out what was taught from the program
(Friday, Saturday Day,
Saturday Night, Sunday)
and also see many photos of
the activities.
NCCA CLOGGING CRUISE TO ALASKA - July 2009

BLOSSOM HILL CLOGGERS CELEBRATE 30 YEARS!
The Blossom Hill Cloggers of San Jose, California, recently celebrated
30 years of dancing. Lois Elling has been their instructor since the start of their
first class in April, 1977. The celebration included a dinner, dancing with several
guest cuers, games, memorabilia and just catching up with old friends. A good time
was had by all!
For more information on the club and to see photos of the event, check out the Blossom
Hill Cloggers' webpage.
CLOGGING STEP DICTIONARY TO BE AVAILABLE ON CD SOON!
